North Central CMA is inviting farmers, landholders, and community members to join the Agriculture Advisory Group (AAG) — a collaborative forum driving real change across our region.

For more than 25 years, North Central CMA has worked alongside communities to protect and enhance our natural resources. We know that the best outcomes happen when local knowledge, lived experience, and fresh ideas come together.

By joining the Agriculture Advisory Group, you will:

• Help influence the direction of key agriculture and land management projects
• Bring your local knowledge and experience to decision-making
• Connect with industry leaders, researchers, and government agencies
• Contribute to a stronger, more resilient farming future.

The AAG provides strategic advice to guide the delivery of major initiatives aligned with the North Central Victoria Regional Sustainable Agriculture Strategy, with a strong focus on soil health and sustainable farming systems.

Current projects include:

• Climate Positive Farming (National Heritage Trust funded)
• National Soils Monitoring Program (in partnership with CSIRO)

You’ll work alongside respected organisations such as the Birchip Cropping Group, Murray Dairy, Agriculture Victoria, City of Greater Bendigo, and the Victorian Drought Hub.

Group details

• Membership of up to six community representatives
• Two-year term
• About four meetings per year - two online and two face-to-face (with possible site visits)
• About six hours per meeting, including preparation
• Voluntary role (travel expenses reimbursed)

Who should apply

We’re looking for people who:

• Live or work within the North Central CMA region
• Have strong connections to agriculture — whether as a farmer, landholder, agribusiness professional, or engaged community member
• Are passionate about supporting rural communities and sustainable agriculture
• Understand local challenges and opportunities, particularly around soil, water, and land management
• Are willing to share knowledge and communicate with the broader community
• Value collaboration and building strong partnerships
